The Probationary Period and Your Union Contract

Your union contract is likely to specify what probationary period applies when new employees are hired.  This is the period in which an employer is permitted to terminate an employee with little or no justification.  Probationary periods can run from as little as thirty days for some less skilled work to a full seven years for college professors.
